Artist: Vicki Peterson

It's Halloween tonight, so I'm featuring some themed art this Friday. These are block prints by Vicki Peterson of Torrance, California. I love block prints. There's something so raw and simple about them. And they're damned hard to do because you have to carve the image you want into the block, but in reverse. You have to carve away everything you don't want printed on the paper. My brain just doesn't work that way. This first one is called Cackling Witch, the second, Scratch Cat, the third, Skeleton Pirate.

May you get all the candy you like. (I'm hoping for my kids to come back with Butterfingers.)

Those are some great block prints. And because I once taught printmaking, I know exactly how those are made. I've even made some myself. I've carved into wood, lenolium, metal and plexiglass.
Here's wishing you a Happy Halloween and I do hope the people around your house give your kids bunches of butterfingers so you can sneak a couple for yourself.

Happy Halloween, I have also done some of that kind of block printing. It's not easy to do the carving in the block.

Fabulous prints! My kids are too old-they will know if I take the all chocolate bars-as I did before.
